Employees

As the leading writer of medical professional liability in New Jersey, Princeton has consistently attracted and retained a knowledgeable, hard working employee base. Their dedication sets them apart, and has helped Princeton achieve its 30 year record of continuous service to the New Jersey healthcare community, a record no other insurer can match.

Princeton enhanced its commitment to employees in 2005 to assist in their professional development and growth and to capitalize on their current knowledge. Strong tuition assistance benefits encourage employees to pursue advance certifications and/or degrees in insurance, business, healthcare and law. The concept of investing in people as our greatest resource helps us provide the very best in service to our policyholders, agents and other audiences.

In the past year, employees participated in a company-wide mentoring program. Existing employees were paired up with others so that lesser experienced employees could learn from those who have been with the company for a longer period of time. In this capacity, employees were able to discuss topics relating to Princeton’s operations and the industry or seek advice regarding their particular career track. New employees also took part in a mentoring program, which allowed them to meet with representatives from each department so that they could ask questions and sooner develop a firm understanding of the company’s structure and the departments’ various functions.

Policyholder service was strengthened in 2005 through the enhancement of existing account teams. By grouping employees from different departments into teams, the claims, underwriting, risk management and finance professionals that service a given account can meet regularly to share information and maximize customer service. This approach has enhanced risk selection and pricing, improved claims handling services and allowed for more targeted risk management and loss prevention efforts.

Sharon Simmons
Underwriting Manager
Princeton Insurance employee since 1992

“I have the opportunity to speak with physicians regularly, and the most fulfilling part of my job is getting feedback from them on a one-on-one basis. Sometimes they’ll act so surprised that a live person answered the phone, especially a manager. They really appreciate being able to speak to someone directly so that they can get an answer to their question in language they can understand. Before coming to Princeton Insurance, I worked for another medical malpractice insurer. They were physician-owned but over time it became clear the company wasn’t “for” physicians. By contrast, Princeton’s dedication to, and support of, their policyholders is indicative of the way we conduct business – the protection of our policyholders is what’s most important to us.”
