On September 13, industry professionals gathered at Insurance Networking News’ (INN) Women in Insurance Leadership Forum in Dallas, where 10 of the industry’s most successful female insurance executives were honored, including Princeton Insurance Vice President of Information Technology Darby O’Neill. At the event, O’Neill and nine of her peers received an INN Women in Insurance Leadership award in recognition of the significant impact they have made on their businesses.
Four of the 10 women, including O’Neill, were recognized as Notable Achievers for having successfully driven significant project and/or process improvements within their companies.
“It was wonderful being a part of such an amazing event,” said O’Neill. “I felt honored to be in the company of these immensely successful women and proud that female insurance executives are being recognized for the tremendous contributions they are making to the industry every day.”
O’Neill played a large role in Princeton’s imaging project, having worked to ensure that the implementation included improvements in productivity and workflow. She has positively affected the revenue, operating income and earnings growth of Princeton Insurance. O’Neill was nominated by St. Nick Media Services on behalf of Vertafore.
“Over the years, Darby has proven herself to be an integral part of the Princeton Insurance family,” said President and CEO of Princeton Insurance, Charlie Lefevre. “Her consistent efforts to bring people together from all areas of the company to innovate and to improve the company’s overall performance are a testament to her leadership skills. Most recently, her work in helping Princeton transition smoothly and seamlessly to a paperless office environment presents a clear example of her passion and commitment to keep Princeton ahead of the curve and the leading medical professional liability company in New Jersey.”
According to INN, the judging for the program included a rating methodology based on the candidate’s contribution to the institution's top and bottom lines, job complexity, corporate governance and ethics, and leadership and management skills.
The 2009 winners were featured in the September/October 2009 issue of INN and recognized at INN’s Women in Insurance Leadership Forum, September 13-15, 2009, in Dallas.
The two-day conference is dedicated to the professional development of women across the insurance and financial services sectors. Attendees can collaborate with other women in executive insurance business and technology positions through decisive and interactive dialogue; e.g. structured sessions, panel discussions and interactive roundtables.
O’Neill joined Princeton Insurance as a programmer/analyst in 1982. Several promotions followed: information services manager, director of data processing and assistant vice president. In her role as vice president, she oversees a staff of 28, including developers and architects in several different environments, network engineers, QA personnel, desktop support team members and operations staff.
Since 1993, she has served as a member of the Mercer County Community College Technical Advisory Commission, and for the past several years has been an active volunteer on the Technology Committee with IASA (Insurance Accounting & Systems Association), where she has coordinated multiple sessions and served on discussion panels. In 2007, O’Neill was recognized for being an outstanding technological leader in the industry by the National Underwriter publication called Techdecisions for Insurance.
